Who We Are
Sacramento Press is a community-centric online newspaper of professional writers and community contributors coming together to uncover, highlight, and talk about what’s happening in the city. With the launch of our new website in 2016, we are looking for talented staff writers, columnists, and community contributors to help build our new brand and bring engaging content to our site.
What’s the difference between a Professional Writer and a Community Contributor?
Professional Writers are paid, on-staff, freelance writers committed to writing for SacPress on a regular basis. They are passionate about a particular beat (or two), have professional writing experience, and can provide a resume with writing samples.
Community Contributors are members of the community who regularly or singularly contribute articles that voice their opinion, spread the word on things happening in Sacramento, or highlight other niche topics. SacPress is the place for members of our community to be heard and be a part of the conversation of our city. Our Community Contributors are passionate about Sacramento and local issues, and help give our readers an “insider’s look” of what makes our city unique.
Whether interested in joining our team as a Professional Writer or a Community Contributor, some of the potential Sacramento-centric topics we aim to cover are:
Restaurants
Arts
Events
Opinion
Community Stories
Local News
Sports
Business
Politics
Lifestyle
Farm-to-Fork
Health
Travel
Nonprofits
Reviews
Urban Development
You name it!
We are currently accepting applications for Professional Writers and are immediately looking to expand our Community Contributors. Please note that we accept Community Contributor requests from Sacramento Area residents only.
