A go-to destination for fresh foods and artisan-made goods perfect for Mother’s Day gatherings, the Midtown Farmers Market also offers engaging Midtown Second Saturday artistry, hands-on activities for kids, cooking demonstrations for adults, entertaining music, and much more deliciousness this May. Newly expanded and voted as the No. 1 farmers market in California, the Midtown Farmers Market is proudly sponsored by Sutter Health and presented by SMUD. The open-air market first debuted in 2013 and is available on Saturdays year-round – rain or shine – with spring/summer hours in effect from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
To make the sprawling six-city market as easy as possible to navigate, destinations are identified by themed offerings such as Artisan Alley, Boutique Boulevard, Market Square, Merchant Market, Producers Plaza, Savory Street, the Street Food Sacramento block, and now the Culinary Corridor presented by American Property Management.
In addition to nearly 300 vendors offering a wide range of products each Saturday, the Midtown Farmers Market also offers entertaining activations as outlined below and taking place in Market Square (20th & K Streets) unless specified otherwise:
Saturday, May 3
- 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Free bookmarks provided by Heller Pacific and Fulcrum Property.
- 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Upbeat beats by DJ Sanz.
Saturday, May 10 – Midtown Second Saturday
- 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Special Midtown Second Saturday art experiences presented by Golden 1 and highlighted by an elaborately decorated art cart (aka mutant vehicle) created by Kate Marusina and titled Abu the Horsefly as part of a special Urban Dreams Art Experience preview.
- 8 a.m. to noon – Free children’s bracelet making activity for moms presented by Golden 1.
- 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Live music performed by talented singer/songwriter Seth Kaminksy presented by Priority Parking.
- 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Upbeat beats by DJ Sanz in the Street Food Sacramento block also presented by Priority Parking.
Saturday, May 17
- 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Entertaining live music performed by singer/guitarist Alpina Basnet.
Saturday, May 24
- 9 a.m. to noon – Preview performances of “Beer & Ballet” every 30-minutes by Sacramento Ballet.
- 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. – Entertaining music by DJ Nadz.
Saturday, May 31
- 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. – Cooking demonstration by Chef Monique Torres from Mimo Bake Studio presented by Sacramento Natural Foods Co-Op in the Market’s new Culinary Corridor.
- 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. – Live music from musician/songwriter RADJ.
Owned and managed by the Midtown Association, the Midtown Farmers Market continues to grow and evolve to reflect the thriving and eclectic tastes of the surrounding neighborhood.
