All commissioned by the Midtown Association and created by talented local artists, the community is encouraged to bid on 17 original art pieces as part of a Midtown Second Saturday Charity Art Auction on now through Sunday, July 14, at 11:59 p.m. The art pieces were curated by Faith J. McKinnie, founder of the Black Artist Foundry, as part of an art activation that debuted at the recent Midtown Mini Midtown Love celebration. To get started, each artist was provided with the same materials and invited to create an original work of art based on a “garden party” theme.  In addition, each piece of wood and stand was cut and prepared by artist Julian Sandpaper.

A portion of proceeds from the Midtown Second Saturday Online Charity Art Auction will benefit future Second Saturday programming and Midtown Parks, a non-profit 501(c)(3) arm of the Midtown Association that launched in 2019.  Midtown Parks aligns with the mission of the Midtown Association that is committed to creating a center for culture, creativity, and vibrancy in Sacramento’s urban core, and is dedicated to enhancing community health and well-being.

“We’re thrilled to continually find ways to showcase the incredible talents of our art community in Midtown and throughout our amazing central city,” said Emily Baime Michaels, Executive Director of the Midtown Association. “Each one of the original art pieces captured the garden party theme in a unique way — some are whimsical, some are thought provoking, and all are statement pieces. Our art auction offers a great way to support local creators while adding a touch of artistry to your space.”
