Heading for Home: River Cats Opener Set for Tonight

Wynton Bernard heads for home Wednesday at Raley Field during the pre-season game with the California League's San Jose Giants.

As a warmup for tonight’s Pacific Coast League opener, the Sacramento River Cats faced off Wednesday against the San Jose Giants, the class-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, in a scrimmage at Raley Field.

While the San Jose Giants won the exhibition game last night, the real action begins tonight, vs. the Tacoma Rainiers, the AAA affiliate of the Seattle Mariners. Game time is 7:05 p.m. The opener kicks off a five-game (weather permitting) home stand, all against Tacoma, to start the season.
