Kids & Canines Invited to Midtown Halloween Festival & Pooch Parade This Saturday

Midtown is about to be overrun with Halloween activities, cute kids, and our favorite four-legged friends at the crowd-favorite (and free!) Midtown Halloween Festival & Pooch Parade this Saturday, Oct. 29.

Sponsored by the Sutter District and held from 1 to 4pm at Marshall Park, the canine-friendly event is highlighted by the much-anticipated “pooch parade” scheduled to take place at 2 p.m. that day. Dogs will strut their stuff by while competing in an entertaining costume contest that will include playful prizes for the winning pooches.

Midtown’s popular mobile off-leash “Pop-Up Dog Park” will also be set up to encourage canine communication for pooches 30 pounds or less (due to the structural limits of the fencing).  Plus, a variety of free family-friendly activities will be available that include face painting, a bounce house, hands-on arts and crafts and entertaining live music.

“We’re excited to continue to offer an amazing variety of fun events all year long in Midtown that are both family and pet friendly,” said Emily Baime Michaels, Executive Director of the Midtown Business Association. “And we’re especially thrilled to showcase our four-legged friends for this Halloween Festival & Pooch Parade that is so incredibly popular with the Midtown community.”

Looking for a pup of your own? The Front Street Animal Shelter will be on-site with plenty of pets looking for forever homes.

The Food Literacy Center will offer a granola station and a fun photo booth to capture special moments.

Make it an all day event by coming to Midtown earlier in the day for special activities that will be available at the popular Midtown Farmers Market that takes place from 8am to 1pm on 20th at J Street and extending beyond K Street. Costumes are encouraged and children of all ages are invited to take part in a fun and free mini pumpkin scavenger hunt throughout the market.

Marshall Park is located at 915 27th Street. For more information about these and other activities happening in Midtown, please visit exploremidtown.org.
