6 Ways to Enjoy Fair Oaks

fair oaks

Fair Oaks is loved by all who encounter it, whether they’re simply passing through or already call it home sweet home. This may be due to its rural components mixed with urban elements, its charming historic feel, its proximity to the heart of Sacramento, or the myriad of things to do within the community. Here are the best ways to enjoy this corner of Sacramento.

Eat at a Local Restaurant

One of the most common ways to spend time in a city is by tasting their local fare. Thankfully, Fair Oaks has a large number of restaurants tucked into this residential area, making the commute to dinner pleasant for residents.

Sunflower Drive-In is a unique dichotomy in town, combining an old-school drive-in feel with an updated natural foods menu. This well-loved community staple is nestled in the Old Fair Oaks Village area, furthering its vintage and authentic motif.

Dad’s Kitchen is another Fair Oaks staple. Hungry comfort food seekers are traveling from all over to taste the Hot Blonde sandwich that was featured on the Food Network’s Diners, Drive Ins and Dives with Guy Fieri!

Carmelita’s Mexican Restaurant achieved such success at their Roseville location that they have since expanded to include a Fair Oaks location as well, which features an outdoor patio and a full bar! This family-owned restaurant is one of the best sources for authentic Mexican food in town.

Go Shopping

The heart of Fair Oaks centers around Old Fair Oaks Village, a historic area founded in 1895. This community is packed with unique storefronts, antique shops, an amphitheatre, and tree-lined streets.

Stop by Village Treasures, a family owned and operated gift shop featuring local products, including jewelry, lamps, artwork, quilts, candles, raw honey, chocolate, and more! Shopping at this adorable (and dog-friendly!) store is one of the best ways to support local artists in the community — and gain a unique treasure for your home in the meantime.
