Think your moustache is as glorious Ron Swanson from Parks and Recreation? Or perhaps you feel your beard is as mighty as Gandalf’s from The Lord of the Rings. Whether you sport an awesome one of your own or just have an appreciation for fantastic facial hair when you see it, this Saturday will be your chance to put your facial hair where your mouth is.
Guys all across Northern California are getting their handlebars, mutton chops, uber staches, and garibaldis ready to put on proud display at the 5th Annual Northern California Moustache and Beard Competition. Presented by the Moustache and Beard Social Club, the competition invites men to pair their mighty moustaches and beards against one another, all the while sharing the camaraderie and deserved respect for each other’s facial hair.
The competition will be held at the California State Railroad Museum on Saturday, Apr. 2 from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sixteen different categories of facial hair will be judged based on every size and size style, from moustaches, beards, goatees, sideburns, and more. There will even be a separate category for kids 10 and under!
Brews will also be served from the likes of Mustache Vineyards wine and beers from Monk’s Cellar, Lagunitas, Schilling Hard Cider, and Pabst Blue Ribbon..
Proceeds go to the Pet Adoption and Wellness Services, the official charity of the competition.
As many men will attest to, there is nothing manlier than appreciating great facial hair while drinking a cold beer and enjoying each other’s company. Make it a competition and help animals in need, and it just got better.
General admission is $15, while admission for kids will be $8. Participating in the competition costs $25. Note that tickets have to be bought before the competition: no tickets will be sold at the door.
