Ready, set, skate!

The official start of the winter season in Sacramento will kick off with the opening of the Downtown Sacramento Holiday Ice Rink — Sacramento’s oldest and most beloved outdoor ice rink–on November 6. A special ribbon cutting ceremony at 12 pm will officially open the rink’s 24th season, followed by free skating for all for the grand opening day.

Organized by the Downtown Sacramento Partnership (DSP) and situated in the heart of downtown at the corner of 7th and K streets, the ice rink has been a seasonal landmark on the Kay since 1991 and offers a playful escape into an urban winter wonderland for kids and adults alike.

“There’s something magical about being downtown for the holidays,” said Michael Ault, Executive Director of the Downtown Sacramento Partership. “The downtown ice rink is a place where families, couples, and friends have been coming to for more than 20 years to enjoy the holiday season and create treasured holiday memories.”

The ice rink will be open daily to the public November 6 through January 18. More than 30,000 skaters are expected to attend throughout the season. Admission is $8, skate rentals are $2, and locker
rentals are $2.
