Sacramento Republic FC Opens 2015 USL Playoffs at Bonney Field Saturday

Sacramento looks to begin its defense of last year’s United Soccer League crown with a rematch of last year’s “Miracle at Bonney” against in-state rival LA Galaxy II. In a semi-final playoff match last year, Sacramento, led by Midfielder Rodrigo Lopez’s hat trick, rallied from a late 2-0 deficit to pull off the stunning 3-2 victory.

Sacramento Republic FC (13-8-7, 46 pts.) will face off at Bonney Field against LA Galaxy II (14-11-3, 45 pts.) in the Western Conference quarterfinals match that kicks off at 7:30 pm Sacramento went 3-1-0 during the regular season against LA.

Saturday’s match will be the first match against LA under Head Coach and Technical Director Paul Buckle. Under Buckle, Republic FC has lost just one match, going 4-1-4 since he replaced Preki and assumed head coaching duties mid-season. That loss, however, was a 4-0 defeat to LA in his first game as coach.
