Yesterday, the Wall Street Journal’s online Life and Culture section identified “6 Great Small Cities for Food Lovers” – with Sacramento listed alongside San Antonio, Columbus, Raleigh-Durham, Omaha and Spokane.

From the article: “…we went looking for six of the most vital contemporary restaurant genres in six markets of varying size, none of which are well known for their dining scenes—yet.”

Sacramento restaurants cited in the article, by category, include Hook & Ladder Manufacturing Company (Meat-Centric Gastropub), Formoli’s Bistro (Chef-Driven Regional Italian), Kru (Hipster Asian Mash-Up), The Porch Restaurant & Bar (Modern Southern), Bistro Michel (Old-School Bistro) and The Kitchen (Next-Generation Farm-to-Table), with The Kitchen being described as “the grandfather of Sacramento’s farm-to-table restaurants.”
