It’s a fashionable weekend this weekend as the Miss Sacramento County Beauty Pageant Finals and the Miss Sacramento County Teen Pageant take place on Sunday, Sept. 28 at Cosumnes River College’s Performing Arts Center. Also happening is the Queens vs. Celebrities Bowling Tournament, a bowling event scheduled on Saturday, Sept. 27 in coordination with the pageant and hosted by Justin Bird (Bravo TV’s “The Millionaire Matchmaker”) at Pins N Strikes from 6pm-9pm.

At the bowling tournament, Miss Sacramento County Beauty contestants will bowl against other teams that include a celebrity group. Scheduled to appear are NBC’s Mission Control star Malcolm Barrett, Greys Anatomy’s Dr. Spalding actor Brandon Scott, and musical performing artists IM5 founded by Perez Hilton, Bobby DeBarge Jr. and recording artist Andre Mieux (A.M.X).

Sacramento Fashion Week will be partnering with the Miss Sacramento County USA to produce the bowling tournament. Sac Fashion Week will also have a bowling team participating at the tournament.

Along with the festivities, a Backpacks and School Supply Drive, designed to encourage youth to pursue education and to stay in school, will be taking place in an effort to give back to the community. People are asked to bring backpacks and school supply donations to the tournament. The is drive lead by the efforts of the City of Elk Grove Youth Commission and will benefit the Elk Grove Unified School District.

The Miss Sacramento County and Miss Sacramento County Teen serve as the official preliminary to the Miss California USA and Miss California Teen USA Pageants. Contestants will be judged in five categories; personal interview, talent, evening wear, swim wear and by an onstage question. Contestants will have plenty of family and friend support but also need community support as they compete for the title.

Karla Gordy Bristol, of legendary Motown Records, will host the pageant finals.

Miss Sacramento County and Miss Sacramento County Teen Pageants founder Mykesha Robinson and her team have been working feverishly on this event and hope to continue making this an annual event. Last year’s Miss Sacramento County winner Chloe Elizabeth Anderson will also be involved in the production.

Doors for the beauty pageants open at 1pm and the pageant is from 2pm-5pm on Sunday. Tickets are still available on line for the bowling tournament and pageant. Visit the Miss California County 2014 at misssacramento.com for more information on this year’s events.
