Aftershock Music Festival Returns to Discovery Park This Weekend!

Discovery Park will be the hottest place in town this weekend when the Aftershock Festival returns, complete with an impressive lineup of rock bands and a 4 stage expansion.

Day one of the 2-day rock music festival (Sep. 13-14) includes a kick off from Dig the Kid on the Coors Light Stage at 11:30am and a noon performance by Anti-Mortem and Islander on stages West and South.

Attendees should be stoked to see Dead Sara also playing on Saturday. This hard rock LA band–which is comprised of singers Emily Armstrong and Siouxsie Medley,  bassist Chris Null, and drummer Sean Friday–spent 2013 in the studio working on new material for their brand new show. And they’ll be debuting their sophomore album at the Aftershock fest!

Closing the day after on Saturday after an evening of music by Awolnation, Limp Bizkit, and The Offspring, is Weezer (Stage North at 8:55pm). I got the chance to hear Weezer’s set at Jay Z’s Made in America Festival in Los Angeles where their quirky uplifting sound had fans dancing and swaying despite the humid and hot Labor Day weekend weather. Their set list included hits: “Island in the Sun,” “Beverly Hills,” “Pork and Beans.”

Sunday will feature more metal rock acts, and music will kick off at the same time, 11:30am. A Sunday personal favorite will be catching Of Mice & Men’s set at 2:50pm on the Monster Stage 2.

Rise Against, the Chicago-based hardcore band who will be playing Sunday evening, also made an appearance at Made of America Fest over Labor Day Weekend in Los Angeles. It will be exciting to see their set come to life in Sacramento! Closing the festival with a bang will be Godsmack.

Check out this full line up and set times to plan out your day at Aftershock Fest!
