Sacramento’s first Town Hall Meeting on Climate Change on Saturday is organized by the community, not by politicians. A Town Hall is democracy in action – community members will have a chance to tell our leaders what they can do in the Sacramento region to slow global warming and adapt to climate change. We will create a climate action plan to later present to city council, the county board of supervisors, and other bodies.
The morning session includes inspirational speakers Mark Hertsgaard and Eric deKok, four politicos limited to speaking 5 minutes each, and opportunities for the public to speak to the whole assembly including regional leaders. The afternoon session consists of small groups where we’ll create action plan items on topics such as transportation and health.
