Brickhouse Gallery Looking for Participants for Live Graffiti and Hip Hop Event



The Brickhouse Gallery and Arts Center is looking for graffiti artists to participate in an upcoming fine art exhibit which will take place at the Oak Park area venue June 1-30, 2014.

According to the website, the goal of the exhibit is to showcase artist’s perceptions of the five elements of Hip Hop (Graffiti/Street Art, MC’ing, DJ’ing, B-Boy/Girl ‘Dance’ and Knowledge of Self) and to shed light on the political, social and economic issues through their art medium. It will include works of art, Hip Hop memorabilia, performances, and artistic components that comprise Hip Hop, including Sacramento and Northern California’s unique Hip Hop culture. There will also be a “The Art of Hip Hop Festival” Commemorative Catalog, T-Shirt, and Music CD produced.

If you wish to submit a piece for the exhibit, please provide the following information via email to nickelnanail@gmail.com with the SUBJECT line ‘HipHop’ by April 25th:

  • Contact information – including name, phone number, email and website/blog

  • Up to 5 photos of your work along with its full title, size, medium, and date of creation

  • A brief artist bio/statement – up to 150 words

  • A sentence or two quoting your position on the topic

There are no Submission Fees for the show, but a $20 fee will be charged to artists selected to exhibit in “The Art of Hip Hop Festival” for a Commemorative Catalog.
