18th Annual O’Sacramento St. Patrick’s Day Parade – March 15 in Old Sacramento
See St. Paddy’s festivities come life as green-clad marchers, dancers, bands, and historic re-enactors fill the streets of Old Sacramento in Irish flare. People from all over Northern California will gather to be a part of the celebrations that make this annual event a highly anticipated Old Sacramento tradition. The St. Patrick’s Day Parade will feature bagpipers, drummers, bands, military regiments, baton twirlers, Irish and Highland dancers dressed in Celtic costumes, and over 70 units with more than 1000 marchers. And it doesn’t end there. Also part of the parade is a variety of cultural organizations, police and fire regiments, cheerleaders, vintage cars, unicycles, a Family Fun Zone (new this year!), and even members of The Mustache and Beard Social Club . St. Patrick’s Day River Cruise – March 15 on the Sacramento River
Cruise down the Sacramento River to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day on the Hornblower’s St. Patrick’s Day River Cruise, complete with face painting and balloon artistry for the kids. Enjoy scenic views of the city and the Sacramento riverside, now lush with green foliage from recent rains. Cruises depart from the Old Sacramento L Street dock 10 am, 11:30 am, 3 pm, and 4:30 pm. Note that streets in the surrounding areas will be closed to traffic for the Shamrock’n Marathon (Tower Bridge streets, 7:15 am-12:30 pm) and the St. Patrick’s Day Parade (Old Sacramento streets, 12-3 pm). Fox & Goose St. Patrick’s Day Celebration – March 15 & 17 at Fox & Goose
Wow, two days of St. Paddy’s fun! Fox & Goose is one of many pubs and bars downtown (and throughout the Sacramento region) celebrating the holiday, but they are the place to go for not one, but two days of rockin’ parties. For you weekenders, join Fox & Goose on Saturday night for traditional Irish music by Stepping Stone and one of this year’s feature bands, local Irish punkers, The Pikeys. For you true-to-the-holiday attendees, the Celtic festivities fire up again on Monday night with a Pikeys return in addition to an show-opener by toe-tapping traditional Irish musicians Bobby & The Kennedys. Shamrock’n Half Marathon, and 5k – March 15 & 16 through Downtown
Come out to participate or cheer on runners in one of Sacramento’s largest half marathons and 5Ks. The popular Shamrock’n half marathon is sold out, but spots are still open for the 5k and Kid’s ½ mile Fun Run. The 5k on March 15 goes through the heart of the city, starting and ending at Raley Field. March 16’s Half Marathon is an iconic landmark course that passes over the Tower Bridge, to the Capitol, along the American River bike trail through Discovery Park, and through Old Sacramento. St. Patrick’s Day Block Party – March 17 on 16th and L Streets
3 parties, 1 block! Join DeVere’s Irish Pub, Firestone Pub, and MIX Downtown in 3-restaurant block party on 16th and L Streets. DeVere’s will open at 9 am with their famous Irish coffee hot and ready to serve with limited breakfast items including corned beef and cabbage. Firestone will open at 11 am for lunch, with evening fun including happy hour starting at 3 pm and an exclusive live performance by local music band Nunchuck Taylor (starting at 6 pm).
