“If You Build It” – Shop Class. Redesigned.

If-You-Build-It-Movie-Poster_SACThe American Institute of Architects, Central Valley Chapter is teaming up with the Architecture/Construction/Engineering high school mentoring program of Greater Sacramento and the Architecture students of Cosumnes River College to present an exclusive local screening of IF YOU BUILD IT.

The film follows designer-activists to rural North Carolina, where they work with high school students to transform both their community and their lives. The designers lead their students through a year-long, full-scale design and build project that does much more than just teach basic construction skills: it shows the power of design-thinking to re-invent not just their town but their own sense of what’s possible.

This film is relevant to Sacramento as local groups begin to put together the groundwork for the first and only college of Architecture in the Sacramento region.  Discussion to follow the film.

Exclusive screening of If You Build It is on February 25th at 5:30 p.m. at Century Stadium 14, 1590 Ethan Way, Sacramento.  This is a crowdsourcing event – tickets must be purchased in advance by February 18th. For more information and to purchase tickets visit : https://www.tugg.com/go/qe3xs5
