Hostage situation involving infant and parolee at large ends well

A three and a half hour hostage situation involving an infant, ended well Tuesday afternoon in Strawberry Manor.

“A bunch of officers came out to pick up a parolee at large. When they got to the house, family members came out but he did not. He had his infant child with him and was not going along with the program, and was not coming out for the officers,” said Officer Michelle Gigante, Spokesperson for the Sacramento Police Department.

We took all precautions necessary because of a child being involved with this. Because he was a parolee at large we called in our hostage negotiators and our SWAT team,” Gigante said.

We surrounded the area and a hostage negotiator was actually able to make contact with the subject and was able to talk him into coming outside,” Gigante said. “Ultimately he wound-up coming outside, it was a few hours later but he did. The child is fine; the suspect was taken into custody without incident and no officers were injured.

It was not immediately known if the suspect was part of the CDCR Realignment Project.
