[Photos] Theatre of Lights in Old Sac starts holiday season

‘Twas the night before Thanksgiving and K St in Old Sac was filled with people waiting in anticipation for the show to begin. It’s the fifth year for the light show and it seems to grow in viewers each year.

It’s a free event is presented by Old Sacramento Business Association in cooperation with Downtown Sacramento Foundation (DSF), the City of Sacramento and Old Sacramento merchants. It runs through New Year’s Eve. The schedule is included in the link below the photo of the tree.

High tech lighting and sound bring the show to life.

The Christmas tree was lit and then the lights and sounds filled the street.DSC_1232The photos give a sense of what happens during the Theater of Lights, but they cannot convey the sounds of the show which include fire crackling, thunder and the reaction of the crowd.

The book “Twas the night before Christmas” is read by Mark Twain. Santa Claus drops by before hopping on his sled to deliver presents around the world.

Here are some scenes from last night’s performance (photos are a bit out of sequence):
