The area was closed off as CSI and detectives arrived to investigate and process the scene.

A male subject was shot in the chest. Officers received a call of shots fire in the area. Officers arrived on scene and found the victim down. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition.  “We don’t have a whole lot more,” said Don Rehm, Lieutenant/Watch Commander, Sacramento Police Department.

There was a volley of gun fire Rehm said. “I’m sure there’s a couple of houses that may have been hit and we are checking that now.”

Witnesses say an older burgundy Toyota Camry was seen leaving the area.

Rehm reflect on the days years ago when this area of Oak Park was his patrol area. “Years ago it was really a happening place,” referring to the gang wars and wide spread violence the area was known for. “All the street officers tell me that it has been super peaceful over here,  so this is kind of a rarity for this complex.”

The Sacramento Police Department urges anyone with information pertaining to this crime to contact the dispatch center at (916) 264-5471 or Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP (4357) or text in a tip to 274637 (CRIMES). Enter SACTIP followed by the tip information.
