Sudwerk Brewing Co. will host the Greenbelt Brewers Association on Saturday, Nov. 2, for free community beer-brewing event to promote national Learn to Homebrew Day.

The event begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Sudwerk Dock Store, 2001 Second St., in Davis.

Joey Vida, coordinator of the GBA event, said, “I think the event is a great opportunity for people who are new to the craft beer community – or just love being around it – to come out and talk with professionals and other enthusiasts. It is a great learning opportunity for anyone who is interested in craft beer.”

The GBA is a Davis-based homebrew club serving Yolo, Solano and Sacramento counties. At its Oct. 15 meeting, it hosted Chris White, founder of White Labs. White is a pioneer in the liquid yeast market who got his start brewing when he was a biochemistry student at UC Davis in the 1980s.

Sudwerk lead brewer Mike Hutson encouraged people to take part. “We’re looking forward to hosting both established and aspiring home brewers on Learn to Homebrew Day.”

Sudwerk brewers will be on hand to teach and discuss the process. The event will conclude when the brew is complete.

For more information, contact Joey Vida at [email protected], or Sudwerk owner Trent Yackzan at [email protected] or (530) 848-7130.

The Dock Store, an informal, family-friendly taproom, is next to the Sudwerk restaurant, which has been under separate ownership since 2006. Regular hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
