2013 Niello Concours at Serrano

Nearly every vehicle on display at the 2013 Niello Concours at Serrano would stop any automobile aficionado in their tracks for a second look. The event was presented by Premier Concours Promotion.

The Niello Concours at Serrano celebrated 10 years of elegant automobile showmanship on Sunday, Oct. 6.

An application process was used to select the vehicles on exhibit and as always, entry forms could be downloaded from the Concours at Serrano website.

Honorary judges for the event included Tom Boutos, Ed Gilbertson, Martin Camsey, Rick Knoop, Tom Matano, Tim McGrane, John McGinness, Richard Niello Sr. and Staff Sgt. Matthew J. Reece.

This year nearly 200 elegant vehicles were on exhibit at the Concours and featured the marque of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars and celebrated 50 years of the Lamborghini and the Porsche 911.

El Dorado Hills’ Serrano Visitors Center served as an exquisite setting for the Concours. The family-friendly event allowed visitors to view their favorite vehicles, and a judging panel also voted for official “best of” in different automobile types.

This year’s event included special guest Bruce Canepa, who served as the 2013 grand marshal. The renowned race-car driver also showcased several Porsche 911s at the exhibit.

Fashionable wear was donned by the many guests at the event. A cigar and bourbon lounge was also included for enthusiasts who have a passion for such things.

This year, a separate admission was required to view the fashion show. The fashion show celebrated all things James Bond. Caren Templet’s exquisite fashion designs were featured.

A portion of the proceeds from the Concours event went to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of El Dorado County.

Fats Catering provided delicious food and cocktails for guests, and a couple of areas provided special comfort for VIP guests.

A long line of pristine one-of-a-kind, foreign, domestic, exotic, muscle and many more selected vehicles waited for their recognition and awards.

Specialty Awards and Class Awards were given out before the Best of Show was announced.

The 2013 Niello Concours at Serrano Best of Show Award winner went to the Duesenberg Number One, a 1921 Model “A” Coupe with Coachwork by Bender, owned by James Castle. The award was presented by Grand Marshal Bruce Canepa.
