10 reasons why your children should audition for the Nutcracker

It’s that time of year again, when the corner of 17th & K will be swarming with children in tights and tutus. The Sacramento Ballet will hold auditions to cast 500+ children for the upcoming production of Ron Cunningham’s the Nutcracker.

Here are 10 reasons to get your child involved in ballet.

1. Ballet trains flexibility, poise and grace.

2. Ballet is a great way for children to make friends and learn the importance of teamwork.

3. It’s much better than some other after school…alternatives.

4. You’ll be able to capture memories that your children will thank you for later.

5. Boys are more than welcome.

6. The things your child learns in ballet class may have an effect on some other members of the household.

7. Recital costumes can be repurposed as Halloween costumes.

8. Dance teachers make great role models.

9. Even the quietest and most reserved children will be encouraged to come out of their shells.

10. You can watch your children learn to stand on their own with your support.

Convinced yet? Here’s the breakdown for the upcoming auditions.

  • Children must be at least six years old by December 1, 2013.
  • Auditions will be held September 4, 7 and 8
  • Auditions will take place at the Sacramento Ballet studio at 1631 K Street

Children of all skill levels and abilities are welcome. Contact Marla Quinn with any questions.
