Too $hort at Ace of Spades!

Too $hort is coming to Ace of Spades this Saturday, July 13, and everyone should be sure to check out this event to see one of the best West Coast rappers! His career started in the 1980s and grew after he collaborated with rappers like Tupac Shakur and The Notorious B.I.G. One of my favorite songs is his classic “Blow the Whistle” because of its upbeat in-your-face attitude. I love Too $hort’s distinct voice, which is so recognizable when he’s collaborating on a different artist’s track, like in “Sideshow” by Traximillion and “Don’t Lose Your Head” by Zion I. If you’re a huge fan, be sure to check out Too $hort on Twitter @TooShort because he’s really good at updating fans on his career and tours.

I’m excited to see him because it’ll take me back to my childhood. I listened to him a lot more when the “Blow the Whistle” album came out in August 2006, and am hoping to hear “Blow the Whistle,” “Keep Bouncin’ (Street)” and the ‘90s classic “The Ghetto.” But I’m sure we’ll hear a lot from his latest album, “No Trespassing,” released in 2012.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. I’d be sure to arrive at Ace of Spades when doors open if you want a good view; expect this to be a packed concert. There is plenty of free street parking around the venue after 6 p.m., or there is a $10 parking fee to park in the lot across from Ace of Spades. You can purchase tickets at any Dimple Records in Sacramento, The Beat, Armadillo Music (in Davis) or online at aceofspadessac.com. The lineup for the night includes Too $hort, Lil Bit, Suave, Debonaire, Babnit, Who Ride, Knox & K-Ottic! Get pumped and comment down below about the songs you’re looking forward to hearing if you’re heading to Ace of Spades this Saturday!

Ace of Spades is located at 1417 R St., in Sacramento.
