America’s turning 237 this 4th of July. How will you celebrate?

Independence Day Celebration at Cal Expo.

Whether it’s nightlife, exercise, tasty eats, or traditional fireworks, there are all sorts of fun 4th of July celebrations in Sacramento! In addition to the events below, find even more in Sacramento365.com’s Holiday Events section.

River City Saloon is one of the stops for the Red, White, and Brews party on 4th of July eve.

Pre-party on the 3rd:

  • Red, White, and Brews: 4th of July Eve: Old Sacramento Bars; Wed 7pm-1am: Party in Old Sac this 4th of July eve with 15 bars featuring $3 American beers, live music, comedy, DJs, karaoke, and dancing.
  • Movie in the Ballpark: Howe Park Softball Field; Wed 8:30pm-11pm: Bring a picnic, popcorn, or purchase available concessions, then settle in for the evening to enjoy a great American classic: The Sandlot.

Break a sweat:

  • 4th of July 5-Miler: Glenn Hall Park; Thurs Kids’ Race 7:45am; 5-Miler 8am: Take part in Sacramento’s oldest running event—the 37th Annual 4th of July 5-Miler (a free 5-mile run/walk), with a Kids’ Half-Mile for children age 10 and younger.
  • Run Crime Out of Roseville 5K Fun Run: Royer Park; Thurs 7:45am: Join the Roseville Crime Stoppers on the morning of the 4th of July to kick off the 4th of July Celebration with your family, neighbors, and friends.

All American eats:

  • Fourth on the Field: Raley Field; Thurs 6pm-10pm: Bring the family to experience the region’s best local food, live music, and a fireworks extravaganza, all on the outfield of Raley Field.
  • 4th of July Family Style BBQ: Enotria Restaurant & Wine Bar; Sat 5:30pm-8pm: Join for a feast full of sweet, sweet BBQ classics in celebration of Independence Day.

The Folsom Pro Rodeo features fireworks each night, Thursday-Saturday, in addition to traditional rodeo activities.

In addition to the fireworks at the Fourth on the Field event (mentioned above), check out these spots as well:

  • Folsom Pro Rodeo: Dan Russell Rodeo Arena; Thurs-Sat 6pm-Midnight: Not only are there fireworks nightly at 9:30pm, you can take in all-American Wild West action, such as cowboys, bucking broncs, and massive bulls with attitude.
  • Independence Day Celebration: Cal Expo; Thurs 9:30pm *Doors 5:30pm: Cal Expo annually joins the City and County of Sacramento to produce the largest-scale pyrotechnics display in the area’s history. The Independence Day Celebration is a family oriented collection of activities focused around the Nation’s birthday.
