Frill Seeker x Cuff’s Urban Apparel

This past gloomy weekend, June 22-23, I met with Lacadia Olsen, owner of Cuffs, a men’s and women’s boutique. I am always drooling over Cuffs’ Instagram feed, @shopcuffs, with all the amazing hippie-chic style inspiration. This is the perfect one stop shop for summer, with tons of vintage clothing, swimwear, adorable sun dresses and sexy evening wear.

I love how Lacadia really pushes style noms by carrying high-fashion grunge brands, such as UNIF and Jeffrey Campbell, that really push the envelope. I especially appreciate that she carries these brands because they’re so rare in the Sacramento area. Besides Cuffs, I’ve only seen UNIF and Jeffrey Campbell at Nordstrom and FreeStyle Clothing Exchange. If you’ve seen any of these brands anywhere else, I’d love it if you’d comment, in the section below, on where you found them!
After perusing the shop, a lot of her summer styles reminded me of Coachella’s festival style, and inspired outfit ideas for a bunch of local concerts going on. I always love checking out Ace of Spades, and am especially excited for Launch happening in September, with Girl Talk and Imagine Dragons as the headliners.

Pretty Pastel

I’ll start off with the most casual of the four outfits. I paired this striped tank with these UNIF pink, candy-colored shorts. I love pairing analogous colors; colors that are next to each other on the color wheel. I love the softness of pastel colors, they definitely agree with the warmer weather upon us for summer.
I finished off this look with a layered triangle pendant with neon pink accent that gives this outfit a festival feel. Feel free the layer a few more pendant necklaces of different length to dress up this casual look.

Grunge Goddess

I love how this dress is a mix between a dominatrix and a Greek Goddess. The intense, studded crisscross neck is softened by the way the white flowing chiffon material drapes off the shoulder, making this dress very feminine. I’ve always tended to stray away from super plunging necklines, but the intricate neck hole allows you to feel sexy without feeling like fully exposed.
I played off the edgy studded detailing by adding a black belt with a silver serpent. Without the studs, this dress would remind me of a Greek chiton, a white draped garment resembling a dress, but the studding adds a fierce punch that is quite reflective of Cuffs’ style.

Life is a Beach

This perfectly tie-dyed UNIF dress is adorable to rock for summer. I loved the centered tie-dye and the highlighter colors that brighten up your mood simply by putting the dress on! I love the A-line silhouette, which gives it a youthful vibe.
For anyone who needs to bring millions of things, this bag allows you to do so without sacrificing because it’s big and has an over-the-shoulder strap, making it easier to carry around.

Young and Fun

After seeing these sick UNIF overalls, I felt the need to declare that overalls are back and not all overalls make you look like you’re a kindergartener. In fact, these do the quite the opposite, with a sexy peekaboo midriff and bustier top. I played up the grunge by wearing a black bralette underneath.
If you feel overexposed, a great way to dress up overalls is layering a lace crop top. I loved this black lace one with fringe details because it plays with the festival vibe I was going for. Since I was wearing mostly neutral colors, I decided to finish off this look with a pop of neon with this adorable triangle statement necklace. I layered my necklace from Vivid Venus because I like it’s versatility being bronze and silver, and thought the intricate shape vibed well with these young but sexy overalls.
