Take Dad out for Father’s Day this weekend

Looking for things to do with Dad this weekend? Try a non-traditional approach this Father’s Day and treat him to a fun activity around Sacramento.

In addition to the events below, find even more in Sacramento365.com’s Holiday Events section or do a quick date search for the weekend to see an even wider variety of activities.

Dress as your favorite superhero and head out to Capitol Mall this Father’s Day for the Superheroes 5K.

Get sporty with it:

  • Superheroes 5K Run/Walk: Capitol Mall; Sun 8am: The bad guys will tremble this Father’s Day as thousands of superheroes storm the Capitol Mall in this larger than life 5K run/walk. At the finish line there will be prizes awarded to the best superhero costumes and those who were faster than a speeding bullet.
  • Father’s Day BBQ at the River Cats Game: Raley Field; Sun 1:05pm: Bring Dad to the ballpark for the annual Father’s Day BBQ in the Kinder’s BBQ Area behind right field. Special game-ticket-and-BBQ packages are available, or you can just bring Dad out for an afternoon of baseball and sunshine!
See the sites on the Sacramento River with the Father’s Day River Cruise.

Explore the great outdoors:

  • Father’s Day in the Wild: Effie Yeaw Nature Center; Sun 1:30pm-3pm: Bring Dad and join to learn about some wild fathers as you take a hike under the shady oaks.
  • Hornblower Father’s Day River Cruise: Capitol Hornblower; Sun 1:30pm/3pm/4:30pm: Spend some quality time with Dad this Father’s Day in a fun, relaxing environment. Take a one hour river cruise with narration of the nature and history of the Sacramento River ways.
Treat Dad to a pancake breakfast and benefit a good cause–The Soldiers Project–as well.

Eat & drink well:

  • Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser for The Soldiers Project: St. Clare Catholic Church – Roseville; Sun 8am-11am: Nothing could be more red, white, and blue than an all-American pancake breakfast that honors dear old dad, celebrates Flag Day, and raises money for a patriotic cause.
  • Father’s Day Photos & Beer Tasting: East Sac Mercantile; Sun Noon-5pm: With complimentary beer tasting, professional photography with same day processing available, and 15 boutiques to peruse (including ESM Sports Shop), East Sac Mercantile is a great place to spend Father’s Day.
Attend the Cupcake Ball, a Father Daughter Dance at the Sacramento Children’s Museum.

For those with little ones:

  • Cupcake Ball: A Father Daughter Dance: Sacramento Children’s Museum; Sat 6pm-8pm: Dance the night away and enjoy playing in the Museum at the 2nd annual Cupcake Ball. Princess dress-up encouraged.
  • Father’s Day at Funderland: Funderland Amusement Park; Sun 10am-6pm: Dads ride free all day at Funderland. Spend Father’s Day enjoying all of the thrills at Funderland.
