Earth Day events in Sacramento

The Sacramento Earth Day Celebration is this Sunday, April 21 at Southside Park.

The end of April is near, which means that Earth Day is here! While the official date isn’t until this coming Monday, April 22, Sacramento is starting the celebrating early this weekend with green-loving events galore.

Earthy Festivals:

  • Earth Day Celebration: Sacramento City Hall; Thurs, April 18, 9am-2pm: Come out and join for a free day of fun for all ages. There will be interactive learning including composting, recycling, clean air demonstrations, and much more.
  • Celebrate the Earth Festival: Utility Exploration Center at Mahany Park; Sat, April 20, 10am-3pm: Don’t miss a day of fun-filled day of food, live music, local green vendors, electric vehicles, and family entertainment.
  • Sacramento Earth Day Celebration: Southside Park; Sun, April 21, 11am-4pm: Learn about living healthier & protecting the environment while enjoying great entertainment, activities, and cuisine.


For the kids:

  • Children’s Earth Day Celebration: Sacramento Children’s Museum; Sat, April 20, 10am-3pm: Kids will have the opportunity to learn Earth-friendly lessons through interactive activities led by event participants.
  • Earth Day Animals: Effie Yeaw Nature Center; Sat, April 20, 10:30am-11:30am: Come celebrate Earth Day by learning about how to be a better neighbor to local wildlife. Meet resident animals and hear about how humans have impacted their species.


Keep your energy environmentally-friendly:

  • Going Green: It’s Cool for the Planet: California Automobile Museum; Ongoing, Daily 10am-6pm: This exhibit tells the story of clean fuel alternatives. Ask Museum staff for a free guided tour and information about this project.
  • Green Day at the Grove II: Nissan of Elk Grove; Sat, April 20, 10am-2pm: This event promotes alternative energy solutions and includes all-electric vehicles on display, e-Waste collection, electric bike demonstrations, kids’ activities, and more.
