On Thursday, January 3rd the Sheet Metal Workers Union Apprenticeship program will be donating their time and expertice in an on-the-job training exercise, by installing a heating unit system donated by their contractors. They will be updating an aging Victorian home that Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services will use to house volunteers of the AmeriCorp program this winter and spring.

These AmeriCorps volunteers will be trained in tax preparation through the IRS’s Volunteer Tax Assistance(VITA) & Earned Income Tax Credit(EITC) programs. The VITA/EITC program is designed for low to moderate income taxpayers to enable them to keep more of their hard-earned money in their pockets, thereby investing/spending that money in the local economy.

Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services is serving as a EITC/VITA program site this year to assist the residents of the Oak Park area in free preparation of their taxes and to receive the important tax credit, which will allow them to spend that money in local Oak Park busineses.

Please join the festivities as the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 104 District 2 Apprenticeship Program, Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services, and AFL-CIO Community Services Department team up to give back to the local Oak Park community and its residents!

For more information please contact Greg Larkins, AFL-CIO Community Services Liaison, at (916) 208-4734.
