Sacramento New Year’s Eve events 2013

Fireworks will light up the sky at the New Year’s Eve Sky Spectacular, held in Old Sacramento at Waterfront Park.

It’s almost time for a new year again. Can you believe it? 2012 has been a bit longer than most (we’re looking at you, leap day!), and it’s finally time to ring in 2013.

In addition to the myriad club and bar events (LowBrau, MiX, Dive Bar, District 30, Midtown BarFly, Bulls, Social Nightclub, KBAR, Pine Cove Tavern, R15, Fox & Goose, The Hyatt, The Hilton, and The Park all promise to keep you entertained as well as moving and grooving), we’ve rounded up some alternate New Year’s Eve options for you.



Enjoy fun for the whole family

Non Stop Bhangra will perform at the Noon Year’s Eve Family Festival at the Crocker Art Museum.

Noon Year’s Eve Family Festival:
Crocker Art Museum; Mon 10am-2pm

At this fun and free celebration all ages will learn about New Year festivities from around the world through live music and dance performances. Count down to the New Year at Noon.

New Year’s Eve Sky Spectacular:
Waterfront Park; Mon 6pm-12:30am

This free celebration features activities for the whole family to enjoy including children’s programming, fireworks, live music, dinner specials, hot food and drink vendors, and a variety of colorful street entertainment.



Laugh a little (or a lot)

Leslie Jones New Year’s Eve:
Tommy T’s Comedy & Dinner Theatre; Mon 7pm & 10pm

Leslie Jones performs her wild and crazy standup for comedy clubs and television audiences both nationwide and internationally with appearances on Showtime at the Apollo, BET’s Comicview, the international hot television show Comedy Factor and HBO’s Def Comedy Jam 2006.

Dat Phan and Friends:
Laughs Unlimited; Mon 7:30pm & 10pm

Dat Phan’s culturally insightful comedy inspects ridiculous stereotypes and shares his experience of being a regular American guy with a Vietnamese heritage.



Eat well

Enjoy dinner on the river at the New Year’s Eve Gala Cruise aboard the Empress Hornblower.

New Year’s Eve Gala Cruise:
Empress Hornblower; Mon 9pm-Midnight

Enjoy a fabulous New Year’s Eve four-course seated meal and open standard cocktail bar, as well as festive New Year’s Eve party favors, a pre-boarding photograph, and DJ entertainment for dancing.

Good Tidings: A Celebration of the New Year:
Enotria Restaurant & Wine Bar; Mon 5pm-8:30pm

Chef Pajo Bruich and his team have taken New Year’s culinary traditions throughout the world and assembled them in a twelve course dinner that pays homage to these traditions while reinventing them.

DMTC’s New Year’s Eve Gala Follies Preview:

Davis Musical Theatre Co. Performing Arts Center; Mon 7:45pm-12:45am
Ring in the New Year with Davis Musical Theatre Company and a gala preview of Stephen Sondheim’s Follies. The evening starts with the show; then a full catered buffet dinner; and then a live DJ, dancing, and more.

See ConFunkShun play at the Red Lion Woodlake Hotel & Conference Center.

ConFunkShun and the Dazz Band New Year’s Eve:

ConFunkShun is a star-quality attraction delivering a superb, high-energy show with electrifying choreography, glistening six-part vocal harmonies, and a dash of humor.

Mr. Wendal & Friends New Year’s Eve Ball:
Ramada Plaza Hotel; Mon 8:30pm-1:30am

Come out and celebrate the New Year in style with MC Mr. Terry Moore, Mr. David Replace, saxophonist Mr. Shawn Raiford, and a special guest performance by Kingdom.

New Year’s Eve with Nevada Backwards:
Blue Lamp Lounge; Mon 9pm

A quartet of acoustic musicians, Nevada Backwards’ sound is an amalgam of alt-punk and jamband bluegrass. Also performing are Scratchy the Clown and Storytellers.
