Coming down from last weekend’s “Folsom Street Fair?” Tonight and tomorrow night are two opportunities to to keep the Kink going, at the Gender Health Center’s 3rd annual Gender Bender Ball With the popularity of the last two Balls the event has expanded into two nights.
Tonight: New this year is an added event, “Player’s Night: A Flapper & Dapper Soiree,” which will be a formal 1920s themed dinner including beer by Hoppy Brewing, a program produced by Spoken Word Artist/Poet Jovi Radtke, a silent art action featuring art by local artists , a live auction, and a museum full of classic cars!
Go to the Gender Bender Ball website to check out the numerous artists featured in the auction along with nearly two dozen nation and local sponsors. (I wonder what jetBlue Airways donated?)
The big event Saturday night: “Gender Bender Ball – The Main Stage is the Sideshow” described as “Fun annual dance-party, carnival sideshow theme,” this year Gender Bender Ball adds a 1920’s twist for fun!
While costumes are not required by any means and you can come just to check out the creativity. But really! I hear that there isn’t really any Kink in Sacramento all the time, that you have to go to San Francisco for anything Kink related. (see Folsom Street Fair above.) Here is an incredible opportunity to be kinky and just for the hell of it having fun with being another gender or somewhere in between.
Hey all you straight couples out there. It’s known that more that a few of you are go from curious to heavy Kink. Here is a great chance to have fun with what ever roles in public. It is not hard. Say gun moll guy with gangster girl. Any out there want to switch who’s the flapper and who’s the playboy in the tux? And if the thought of this is that scary, you might seek some counseling. Besides, you can always claim “It was for a good cause.”
Speaking of counseling and a good cause, I wrote about the wonderful folks at The Gender Health Center when the center was the recipient of the Hoppy Brewing Company beer proceeds at the incredibly fun and successful Rocky Horror Picture Show midnight screening at Sutter Landing Park earlier this summer. Hoppy brewing is a major sponsor of the whole weekend. I’m personally looking forward to beer and pizza along with a lot of other treats at the Ball.
To sum up: tonight and tomorrow night two very fun but different events that allow a lot of fun playing with from who do you think it might be fun to dress up as, to dressing up as who you are, all benefiting a wonderful organization covering Sacramento as well as clients north of the Central Valley into So. Oregon and far to the south in the valley.
As the Gender Health Center’s reputation for the quality and value of the services they deliver, regardless of whom the client is, spreads in the region the financial needs of the organization increase also. So get your Kink on Sacramento! Come out!-at least for an evening or two and support gender health.
