Goldens & their companions at California Automobile Museum

12th Annual Kibble & Bids™ – “Vintage Gold”
Don’t Miss This One – September 29!

Homeward Bound Golden Retriever Rescue Group will host its 12th annual Kibble & Bids™ event at the California Automobile Museum on Front Street in Sacramento the evening of September 29.  Join us for another fun-filled evening of fabulous wines, craft beers, gourmet food, music by live bands, silent auction, raffle, a “Wall of Wine” feature, an exciting live auction with several premium offerings, and many other fun activities.

A special Sponsor Hour, to say thank you to our wonderful sponsors, begins at 5:00 pm with several “Golden Greeters” to meet you at the door and our new Concierge check-in (no waiting in line; you simply walk in and begin enjoying the event).  If you’re interested in being a sponsor, check out our website (www.hbgrr.org) for the sponsorship levels and corresponding benefits.  General festivities begin at 6:00 pm.  While you’re enjoying the interesting exhibits of classic and antique cars, two great bands will entertain you – “Rivergate” and “Take Four”.  We’ll also have knowledgeable museum docents on hand to answer questions and point out some of the more unique exhibits.

“Kitchen Im-Paws-Ible” – A New Way to Help the Goldens
At this year’s Kibble & Bids™, there will be a special fundraiser where you’ll have the opportunity to help us update our adoption center’s kitchen area. This renovation will enable us to more efficiently and sanitarily prepare and deliver food to the Goldens in our care. We urgently need a commercial dishwasher which will sanitize the food bowls (currently all dishes are done by hand), rolling food bowl caddies, new kitchen shelves and drawers, a floor drain so mop buckets can be more easily emptied after the kennels are cleaned, and a sealed floor in the kennel to keep things sanitary. We’re fortunate to have the volunteer labor to install most of this, but we need to raise the money to purchase the equipment and materials.

At this year’s event, through your donations to this special fundraiser, you’ll be able to “purchase” the dishwasher, the plumbing materials, one of the food caddies, one (or more) food bowls, material for shelves, paint, cleaning supplies, etc.

New Silent Auction Feature
Of course we’ll have our usual silent auction, but with a new aspect this year. We’re introducing a “guaranteed winning bid” feature for that one irresistible item, so no one can outbid you.

The “Wall of Wine”
In keeping with this year’s Tuscan theme, we’re showcasing a new feature called, “Il grandi muro di vino” (The Great Wall of Wine). Buy a cork with a bottle number on it, and you get that bottle, guaranteed to be worth more than what you paid for the cork.

Live Auction
You’ll be tempted by many wonderful live auction items. One notable example is a week’s stay at a 7,000 square foot Balinese villa in Indonesia, a vacation haven you may want to share with friends or family. This villa comes complete with staff and a driver. Other vacation offerings include Meadowood Napa Valley, a ridgetop retreat in the Anderson Valley wine country, a Lake Tahoe luxury vacation home, and a Penthouse condo in Los Cabos, Mexico. If one of these isn’t your cup of tea (or glass of vino), perhaps you’ll be tempted to bid on a canoe or kayak exploration, a mountain biking package, or a magnum of 2009 Cakebread Cabernet Sauvignon. These are just a few of the magnificent live auction offerings.

Raffle
Expect to see the usual terrific assortment of raffle prizes to buy chances for. We have something for everyone.

Chelsea’s Corks Count & So Do Goldens
In this attraction, you have the opportunity to purchase a guess at the number of corks in a glass vase. The closest guess wins a great prize.

Grab a Bunch (No….not of grapes)
We’re definitely keeping one of our most popular Kibble & Bids features – one that typically sells out fairly quickly, so look for this feature shortly after you arrive. This is our “grab bag” activity where you pay a certain amount and you’re assured of getting a bag worth more than that.

Painting Demonstration
Renowned artist Ron Rodecker, creator of PBS’ Dragon Tales will be demonstrating his whimsical and charming work.

—————————————————————————————————-

We’re very aware that the economy is creating challenges for many, not least of all canine rescue groups like ours. The need for our services is increasing as people still continue to lose their homes and have to give up their Golden Retriever companions. Also, many dogs are surrendered because they have medical needs which the owners can’t afford.  We’re able to take on these challenges because of the generosity of our supporters.  Your support of this year’s Kibble & Bids™ enables us to continue the work of rescuing, treating, and finding loving homes for these beautiful Goldens.

Whether you’re a first-time attendee of this fun event or a regular attendee, you’ll enjoy the new features we’re introducing this year. We’ve invited our usual supportive wineries, craft beer breweries, and gourmet restaurants and caterers ensuring you have plenty to eat and drink.  Visit our website (www.hbgrr.org) to see who’ll be serving.
