Camphor tree taken apart today

A photographer takes photos of the diseased camphor tree at Capitol and 18th as workers cut off limbs.

Over 100 years old, the camphor tree at the corner of Capitol and 18th has won the hearts of many Sacramentans.  Sadly it has  contracted a fungal disease known as verticillium wilt.

And so it must come down.

I caught some shots as workers were taking it apart, limb by limb. Sad to see a big beautiful tree have to come down:

A love letter.
Worker in the bucket uses chain saw to cut limbs and they are hauled away from the tree.
Right after the chain saw ripped through the wood.
Farewell old tree.
