Women experiencing pelvic discomfort can learn about the latest advances in hormone replacement therapy, minimally invasive surgery and robotic surgery at two free educational seminars being presented in Roseville and Sacramento in early June by the Sutter Institute for Minimally Invasive Surgery. Both seminars will cover a range of medical issues, including pelvic discomfort, heavy menstrual bleeding, painful periods, pelvic pressure/bulge and lower back pain.
Olivia Juhn, M.D., a gynecologist with Sutter Roseville Medical Center, encourages women to attend and learn about the numerous treatment options available for common gynecological problems that can affect women of nearly all ages. More specifically, she says attendees will learn about the role that the da Vinci robotic surgery system can play in solving these common issues with minimally invasive surgery techniques.
The da Vinci Computer-Assisted Surgery System is just one among a variety of minimally invasive surgeries offered by Sutter Health hospitals in Sacramento Sierra Region. The da Vinci system combines computer and robotic technologies to provide exceptional control via magnified, high-resolution 3D imaging of the surgical site that allows surgeons to perform more complex surgeries and wield better control. Incisions are usually less than one-half to one inch, compared to six-to-eight-inch incisions that are necessary in traditional surgeries.
Dr. Juhn will join her Sutter colleague, urogynecologist Larry Bowen, M.D., to present the first seminar from 5:30-7 p.m. June 4 at Sutter Roseville Medical Center, One Medical Plaza Drive, Roseville. Gynecologist Elizabeth Gonzalez, M.D., and urogynecologist Welsey Hilger, M.D., will lead the second event from 5:30-7 p.m. June 7 at the Sutter Center for Health Professionals, 2700 Gateway Oaks, in Sacramento.
