Sacramento Building Trades Leader Calls on City Council Candidate Netto to Suspend Campaign Until he Pays his Unpaid Taxes

“Recently I was invited to attend this fundraiser for City Council Candidate Mitch Netto. As a joke, I bet him $1,000 that he wouldn’t beat his opponent, Councilmember Kevin McCarty, but since Mr. Netto decided to forward my joke along to the media today I’m challenging Mr. Netto to suspend his campaign until he pays any and all unpaid taxes.

Mr. Netto – It is no joke to refuse to pay the taxes you owe!

According to the Sacramento Bee, Netto has at least two tax liens against him – a federal lien for over $70,000 and a second state tax lien for over $3,000. To my knowledge Netto hasn’t paid these liens off. Does he have more that weren’t reported? I don’t know, but I do know that instead of taking care of these liens, Netto is spending personal money on his City Council campaign.

Today he is attending a $5,000 per-person campaign fundraiser with some of the biggest players in Sacramento being invited to the Elks Tower Penthouse.

I’m challenging him to immediately suspend his campaign and pay his taxes and help us start restoring some services.”
