Galena Street East, California’s young performing ambassadors from Sacramento, will be holding auditions for the Children’s Chorus, Allegro, and East Street Gang groups on Saturday, June 4, 2011. All auditions will be held at the Sacramento Performing Arts Company Studio located at 2598 Del Monte Street in West Sacramento.
These groups are the training ground to prepare young performers for Galena Street East, the performing ensemble comprised of young Sacramento ambassadors who perform locally and abroad each year.
"This year marks our 40th anniversary for performing here in the Sacramento area, and we are thrilled for what this year holds in store for us," said Jeri Clinger, artistic director for Galena Street East.
Auditions for the International Children’s Chorus, the performing ensemble for children beginning in Kindergarten through 8th grade, will be held from 9 am to 10 am that morning. The Allegro and East Street Gang auditions for youth in grades 8 – 12 will be held the following hour from 10 am to 11 am.
Those interested in auditioning should arrive 30 minutes early to fill out necessary audition forms, bring music to sing and dance with, and wear appropriate dance apparel. Performers can bring music to sing either on a CD, as an instrumental accompaniment or sheet music. An accompanist will be available to play sheet music if necessary. Part of the audition will also include learning a new dance number to perform in front of the directors as well.
"We invite all youth in the Sacramento area who are interested in music and dance to come to the auditions, and show us what you’ve got. We are very excited for what is sure to be a fun-filled year," continued Clinger.
