What’s your vision? Perspectives features Howard Dean and Sarah Palin

It’s all about different points of view—different perspectives.

When Sacramento Metro Chamber leaders created Perspectives 15 years ago, it was to bring world-renown speakers to Sacramento so the region’s business and civic leaders could hear firsthand about vital issues of the day.

This year’s Perspectives on Friday, Oct. 15, features two former state governors who have carved out a role as vocal leaders of their respective parties: former Democrat Presidential candidate Howard Dean and former GOP Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin. The theme is “What’s Your Vision?”

“We hear a lot of chatter about their visit to Sacramento, and we take it as a compliment that people have expectations for the event,” said Matt Mahood, Metro Chamber president & CEO. “But Perspectives is not a campaign stop for candidates. It’s about having a conversation. Our country needs this kind of dialogue, and we are happy to supply it. This is an ideal time to hear from two astute politicians. With just weeks to go before the November election, we are looking forward to Howard Dean and Sarah Palin’s perspectives on the political landscape and the state-of-affairs in our country.”

Also on the dais for the 16th Perspectives will be strengths guru Marcus Buckingham and chef Jeff Henderson. Buckingham is co-author of First, Break All the Rules and Now, Discover Your Strengths. Henderson turned his life around in prison and became a world-renown chef and mentor of at-risk youth. Rounding out Perspectives 2010 will be FOX news commentator Tom Sullivan, former Sacramento radio talk show host.

Since 1995, the Metro Chamber has introduced the region’s business people to some of the world’s most influential and world-renowned leaders including President George H.W. Bush, Gen. Colin Powell, Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, Gov. Ann Richards, President Gerald Ford, Capt. Jim Lovell, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

The day-long event runs 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Sacramento Convention Center. Information on Perspectives can be found at www.metrochamber.org/perspectives.
