Shooting at another recycling center, second in week

Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies are searching for a gunman in connection to the shooting early Wednesday morning of an employee at Pacific Recycling on Stockton Boulevard. Sources indicate that one man was shot in the arm and that the injuries are not life-threatening. The injured man has not been identified

This is the second shooting at an area recycling facility in about a week. There were two arrests in a non-fatal shooting last month in Citrus Heights.

Some speculate the violence is connected to illegal resource recovery (theft) but in Wednesday’s case robbery for cash appeared to be the motive, according to authorities.

There have been a rash of resource thefts from residences and businesses in the region in the past year. Copper is one of the most stolen materials.   A copper garden hose caddy was stolen from my home’s front yard in 2008.
