The volume of leaves during the fall and early winter in Midtown is staggering. I haven't heard from the city how residents should deal with that situation. The pile in front of my house typically takes up 2-3 car-lengths and stands 3-4 feet tall. There's simply no way to put that into a container. Then pile on top of that the endless stream of branches and limbs, plenty of which are too big for a container. Overall this feels like a half baked idea from people who don't live in Midtown.

How about cancelling the Street Sweeper program? There's a service that does absolutely nothing and gets paid for it.

I live in Midtown and work in Roseville- Living in Midtown we are blessed with such amazing food. the same cannot be said for Roseville. Jalisco stands out in Roseville as one of the best, but thats simply because of the lacking competition. I can have a cheaper, tastier, and heartier lunch at Tres Hermanas, which also has a sister site in Roseville called Sabores. But hey, to each their own. I hope the new location does well for them.

His neighbors have grown tired of his antics and lack of respect for the people who live around him. I wouldn't be surprised if it was his neighbors who are pushing the city to do something.

Whats disturbing though is the knee-jerk reactions when anything bad happens. Its all over the place, and it sucks. Its ruining the world we live in.

I completely disagree. I do see 'regular' bars and restaurants, quite a few I frequent often. Its one of the reasons I bought a home in Midtown. There may be a bad egg in the bunch, but dont lump all businesses together. The culinary experience and nightlife in Midtown are simply amazing, I would hate to lose any of it because of an isolated event. Violence happens. Its an awful, terrible, shitty fact. Lets agree to treat our fellow brother and sister better. Teach our kids that violence is never the answer, and most of all set a good example and follow through.

One man, 50K, and a few policies cannot magically fix the problem of todays youth. Its a problem with culture, and change starts at home with the family.

ATT DSL cant deliver speeds promised and pricing is less than great. Not to mention ATT wants to try and force you to buy DSL bundled with phone service. When really you can get what is called "naked DSL" (dsl without phone service), but ATT would rather you not know that.

I'm a midtown cyclist, and I dont ride on sidewalks. It seems more logical to use less congested streets to ride on. I dont ride down J, I dont ride down 16th- because yes, there's too much traffic, too many people not paying attention. But if you move just one block off of the main paths you can find safe(er) streets to ride on. That said, nothing is perfect. Be aware of the cars around you. Ride defensively, dont think that because you're on a bike cars will automatically yield for you. They generally wont.

If cars speed down streets contact the mayors office, ask for stop signs, speed bumps, etc. Dont let the speeders win. Help make downtown a safer place to ride.

glad youre having such a great time in sac! midtown is such a fun place to live and play. i look forward to seeing you around as my wife and i live what appears to be not far from you. we're close to the pine cove, which if you havent been is a place you should check out so you know what people mean when they refer to "the cove".

If you havent already, check out Tres Hermanas at 24th & K for some great mexican food. Im beyond addicted to their chips & salsa, and steak fajitas (corn tortillas). Then there's Mikuni at 16th & V for some great sushi. and Ella & 11th & K for arguably for the best gin in tonic in all of sac (homemade tonic is the key to it).

As a midtown resident close to this block, I'm saddened by my neighbors and their actions against local businesses, no matter what that business provides. I do agree the need for security is quite valid. But complaining about parking is just about the most juvenile thing I've heard coming from midtown residents. Parking has always been tight, and will continue to be that way. Living in midtown you pay to be close to businesses and parks and events and the quality of life it provides. If you don't like these things taking place, please move to the suburbs and enjoy a mini-mansion and all the parking you could ever need. Hindering events, filing complaints, being overall stick-in-the-mud does not promote a vibrant midtown. Please stop with the hate, work in a positive manner with businesses and realize the world doesn't revolve around your parking needs, and particular taste in events, or taste in food, or their clientele.

I live near 28th & E, and thankful that Freeway cars (and Pine Cove patrons) have to reroute to get through Midtown. It discourages a large part of people from traveling through Midtown, keeping them on the main streets (J, L, 15, 16, 19, 21) as they were intended. As a midtown resident I know where all traffic calming spots are and I know exactly how to work with and around them. Its really a non-issue.
