I find that the council is jumping to conclusions on this issue. Admittedly we have a problem with illegal aliens. The way I perceive this law is very similar to the way we are dealing with people with car insurance. Officers will not ask about immigration status unless there is an enforcement of a law. If people are not in trouble with something they are not asked about immigration status. To me that seems like a good idea to keep people out of trouble. it seems like it might be a deterrent. If people driving cars don't get pulled over they don't get asked about insurance, and we know that 40 percent of our population in this economy has no automobile insurance. Perhaps we are overreacting to a law that will help keep the challenges of the assaults, thefts, and drug population better under control. Leave Arizona alone... let's see what happens.
Conversation about: City leaders approve Arizona boycott
It is so sad that the city of Sacramento has made a stand to Boycott a state when we are all facing economic challenges... whether it is a political statement or one of fact where we no longer conduct business with businesses in Arizona I believe that we have cut off our noses to spite our faces. Sadly this is a situation where our political representatives have compromised the residents of this fine city. I don't believe you have acted on our behalf as servants of the city. What our city council has forgotten is that they serve at our pleasure... and I will certainly consider this as a key component in my decision making in our next election when a city council member is up for re-election. I am truly disappointed.
