Maybe, as you say David, “a lot of us don’t care” about the Kings. Maybe to the people you talked to the Kings basketball team was “nothing.” But to many other Sacramentans, the Kings are important in their lives. Why don’t these people matter? To these people, the Kings aren’t “just a basketball team.” It’s a job. It’s a fun family activity. It's an identity. It’s an economic benefit to surrounding Natomas businesses. It’s a reason for companies to relocate to Sacramento. It’s an incentive for another professional sports team – and the attached money – to eventually come here, knowing we have a market to support them. A lot of people don’t care about local bands. So if the local music scene goes away tomorrow, who cares, right? A lot of people don’t read Sacramento Press. So when this site someday folds, big deal, it’s just a citizen journalism website, right? To most Sacramentans, this site doesn't matter. David, you suggest that the Kings drama has somehow prevented us from addressing “things that are actually important,” such as a broken government, schools, parks, etc. Oh yes, because we were making SO much progress on fixing those issues two months ago before the Kings drama became big news. Right? Besides, I don’t see why we couldn’t have done both. Why was it ever a question of Kings vs. "real issues?"
