Conversation about: Underground dance floor a window to city's history

Fascinating article! I've walked by this house many times and wondered about its history. I'd vote for something like this to be a semi-regular Sac Press feature. Every week or so, delve into the history of some interesting residential, commercial, or government building in the city.

Conversation about: Thriving Midtown produces problems with parking

"...whether they walk, bike or drive here." Ummm....what about the people who LIVE in midtown??? Do THEY do nothing to make it a great neighborhood? Oh, yeah I forgot. Nobody actually lives in midtown. It's just a playground for the rest of you.

Conversation about: Ways to spend your MLK, Jr. Day in Sacramento

Not only do I NOT have the day off, I'm one of a dozen people in my department who have to make special arrangements to get to work because RT is running on a holiday schedule. Every year my supervisor writes to them to complain about this, and every year gets told "well, most people have that day off". No, MOST people don't!!!

Conversation about: Ask the County Law Librarian-Bicycles and Sidewalks

I have ridden a 23-mile round trip commute every weekday for 10 years down J street, Capital Avenue, and Folsom Boulevard. I've never owned a car. I manage to make that commute without riding on any sidewalks. So I think I'm qualified to speak up here. Again, ride on the street or don't ride.

Conversation about: Ask the County Law Librarian-Bicycles and Sidewalks

Instead of worrying about where riding on the sidewalks is or isn't legal, how about doing all us midtown pedestrians a favor and just stick to riding in the street? It's become one of my biggest pet peeves about Sacramento--that I can be walking down the street, have some idiot on a bike nearly run into me, and then get yelled at because I didn't get out of THEIR way! Ride in the street. Or don't ride at all.
