fire dept., animal control, your local police, your sherriffs, rangers, game wardens , all these and more deserve thank yous whether they are helping a poor animal, a lost child or senior citizen with alzhimers, and then there are the volunteers (like my son) that really bust butt to help in what ever situation is necessary-- they would also like to know they are appreciated . take the time to say thanks once in a while-- it's really appreciated.
