Criminal Caught In Church Crime

The Sacramento Police Department has arrested William Castro, 28, for the robbery that occurred on Good Friday at a church in the 700 block of T Street. On Friday, April 22, 2011, at 5:00 a.m., the victim arrived at church for the early service. When the victim exited the restroom, the suspect robbed him of his wallet at gunpoint. The victim had planned on purchasing a car later that morning so his wallet contained $2000. Later that morning, a good samaritan saw the story on the local news and donated money to the victim. Suspect Arrested After Threat to Mayor

The Sacramento Police Department has arrested 43-year-old Fred Nelson for a probation violation after he threatened Mayor Kevin Johnson. On January, 26, 2011, at 8:36 a.m., the Mayor was attending a meeting at 10th and J Street when a subject approached him. The subject, later identified as Fred Nelson, told the Mayor that he would be out of office in four hours. The security detail took immediate action, because of the threat to the Mayor’s safety, by detaining Nelson. Detectives responded to assist with the investigation. HOOPS CLASSIC

The Sacramento Police Department and the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department will compete in a charitable basketball game. On October 30, 2010, at 4 p.m., the game will take place at Sacramento High School in the Dave Hotell Memorial Pavilion. There will be raffle prizes and a silent auction. All proceeds benefit the Sacramento Police Foundation. Do Your Part To Prevent Bike Thefts

This Saturday, the Sacramento Police Department is holding “Operation ID” which will provide engravers to put identifying numbers on your bicycle. This operation is in response to a rise in garage burglaries in which bicycles are being stolen. The Police Department is attempting to curb a string of thirty-five garage burglaries in the downtown and east Sacramento area that have occurred since January 2010. Police Release Composite of Cat Burglar

The Sacramento Police Department is seeking the community's help to identify the attached composite of a Cat Burglar. On January 1, 2010 at 0500 a.m., in the 2700 block of 5th Av, the victim heard her dogs barking in the backyard. She didn't see anything in the backyard and brought her dogs inside the residence. After taking a shower, the victim noticed a door in the kitchen area had been closed when she had previously left it open. She opened the door and discovered the male suspect standing on the other side. The suspect grabbed the victim, she screamed, pushed the suspect away, and ran towards the front door.
