1. Kerth did NOT step down. He was asked to leave the MBA.. 2. Federal investigators have stated for the record that the fire was an arson. 3. If you don not understand 1 or 2, you will come election time. http://blogs.sacbee.com/city-beat/2011/10/rob-kerth-removed-as-head-of-midtown-business-association.html#storylink=cpy
glad a few locals know what's really going on. all i've heard from long-term business owners in midtown is complaints specifically about kerth, and let's not even get into the ice skating scam he dupped the
zombie cancelled, capacity is under 1,000 and Bob Simpson was the previous owner...
we raised $15,000 and had nearly 550 runners. - webmaster/volunteer, Donut Dash
biggest? sure about that? i think Wonderbread 5 will pull a giant crowd away. just being real.
Another small piece of REAL midtown goes... more are on the block.. sucks. Old timers moving out, new schoolers with now soul moving in. Keep Midtown Janky. I did a photo shoot with Carlos Santana once and he loved my red on red zuit from Uncle Fred.
yep, his set list was totally free-style. he took requests and let two girls sing songs. even let an employee from Harlows step on stage and play percussion!
NO TV - finally a place for people who go to EAT and SOCIALIZE without the nut box.
Less talk, more work. then ski.
TED is an excellent organization, a bit too academic for me, but good speakers who are OUTSIDE academia nonetheless. I was fortunate to meet their music director, the incomparable Sir Thomas Dolby. A few years ago, he performed at Harlows. I had no idea what TED was at the time, but we spoke and he gave me his card and it said TED... So I looked it up and was blown away by their FREE VIDEO ARCHIVE of GREAT SPEAKERS talking about RELEVANT topics. I'm not a big fan of TEDex, it's like a franchise version of the original. But since it's SUPER difficult to be accepted into the core group, this will be attractive to them. As for me, I wouldn't trust any group that would have me as a member - paraphrased, Groucho Marx.
i wish some REALLY good local bands would come out. Same old 20 locals, save those sisters, Dog Party? Good for the kids. best free 'party' in town though... and Phallucy whom I haven't seen since about 1993.
yes, Temple has the best. When i worked at KCRA, I would drop in on payday and get a pound of their best stuff. Sooo gourmet. Of course, knowing how to cook your coffee is just as important. The stove top coffee makers kick butt.
Oh yeah, "The Whole story." It was on KXJZ yesterday. They interviewed a spokesman for Thomas Enterprises wherein "The Whole Story" was basically, "we have a lot of projects and we just overlooked this. If there is more to it than that, KJ should come clean and share his knowledge. Moreover, it's "There are ways we can do it...," not "There's ways..." My pet peeve is when high level elected officials exhibit poor grammar. I though hommie when to CAL?
i should say, all the photos were taken either at LUXE SALON & SPA, or at an event hosted by Luxe. A full calendar will be produced at the end oft 2010 featuring all the winners.
Liking the new photos, can't wait for the promoter's photography gallery to open up. What a night! Next one up, Sultan's Den on May 8th I think.
If you're really into it, try Wanderlust this summer (last weekend of August). Here's some free-style yoga lead by the world famous SHIVA REA, backed musically by Burning Man's mainstage band - the Mutaytor from San Francisco. a 3 day yoga retreat all over Squaw. Ration was nearly 6 to 1 famale to male. Beautiful, hard bodies all over the place. The best end of summer festival in NorCal. good video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMWPHxvQP5k
great, everybody knows the mainstay places that EVERYBODY GOES TO. But the best wasn't even mentioned - try Jay' Cafe on 10th and J. A Captiol favorite for nearly 30 years now.
His brother named him at a funeral when he was a child playing in the procession. Galactic's frontman (they just played Tahoe 2 weeks ago) produced Trombone's latest album.
OH, I forgot to mention, there is no admission to attend most of the events. In general the FESTIVAL is free, but there are special events that do have small fees, and some are 21+ only.

This whole ordeal reminds me of children who lack identity without materialism, television and mass media. God forbid this town ever lose the Kings and not have any identity.
