I live downtown & I don't have any objections to the arena being here. However, I greatly dislike the land swap idea - it's complicated, confusing to your average voter & reeks of shady business to me. I can't be the only person who wonders why they don't just build an arena in the railyards & leave Cal Expo & Natomas out of it.
The thing I like about this series is that you're going places that a lot of people who read this site don't really consider. Whenever I become familair with a city, I think it's funny to look back at the places I went when I first discovered it. They're ineveitably different than the places I end up frequenting when I become more familiar. It's cool to see Sacramento discovered by someone with no bias towards anything. I mean, the Clarion bar?! Totally random but also awesome.
You can always go hang out in an elevator or a dentist office if you really need that smooth jazz fix.
I love Sacramento & have played music here for a long time - but with few exceptions, you have to move somewhere else if you really want to succeed playing music. Good luck to Agent Ribbons!
If a restaurant closes down due to competition from a taco truck, I'd wager that restaurant was going to eventually close down anyway. There are many cities with a thriving food cart scene - you could even argue that it's one of the biggest food trends in the country right now. It's embarassing that Sacramento has made them illegal.
