The DSP is doing a great job. The Friday night concerts are fun and really well attended. Let's plan more events in downtown and midtown!

Conversation about: Food trucks: A day in the life

Does anyone know why the City of Sacramento has still not changed their mobile food ordinance? It is over a year since over 10,000 people showed up for the big MoFo event at Fremont Park.

Conversation about: Council moves arena work forward as Maloofs balk at sharing costs

The Maloofs are not long for this City. Within a year they will be gone and there will be a new Kings owners who will invest their time and money in Sacramento. In another week or so Commissioner Stern will make clear to the Maloofs that they have blown it. They have lost all their support in this City. And...by the way...they should get rid of their idiotic attorney who wrote the 11 page letter detailing all the reasons the deal might not work. Well friend...you and your client just lost a lot of your franchise value. Sacramento doesn't want you anymore and the NBA owners are not likely to give you much slack given the way you have just acted. Good riddance.

Conversation about: The Porch opens in old Celestin's spot

I was at the Porch last Thursday for drinks with friends. We stayed for dinner which was really, really excellent. I wasn't sure what "Southern cooking" was all about but whatever it is it is good. This restaurant will do well. The owner John made a point to see how we were doing which is always a good touch.

Conversation about: Firestone Public House to open in February

I predict this venue will do well. Both operators have a proven track record and the location is one of the best in midtown/downtown Sacramento. For those who are critical...just don't patronize it. Personally I like the proposed concept. Good luck to the Firestone Public House.

Conversation about: Bike share program stumbles and evolves

A couple months ago I locked my bike in front of City Hall (had a pretty strong cable lock) and it was stolen around 10 AM during the work week. You cannot be too careful.

Conversation about: California Pizza Kitchen to leave, be replaced by pub

I live and work in midtown. CPK just wasn't the right tenant for that space. A new sports bar or whatever the Deveres and Wong group put together will be a big improvement. This is one of the strongest corners in all of Sacramento and will do well with the right product. Personally I think a decent sports bar is needed in midtown and will do well.
