Conversation about: Johnson campaigns gave over $35,000 to create “Strong Mayor” friendly conversation

OK. What is your point? They are not allowed to work for a non-profit organization that supports the same ideas as the mayor?

This is a lot of hullabaloo from people who don't understand how city leaders, legislators and consultant firms work together, and didn't seem to ask any for clarification.

Wasn't Johnson"s campaign manager Steve Maviglio in '08? He seems like a pretty smart guy who's "for the The People" as Rhonda said.

I wish this platform would allow us to give a really big thumbs up or a really big thumbs down. We should be allowed a spectrum of thumbing.

Conversation about: Sacramento Music's Numbers Game

Another thing with Ace of Spades is that the 21 and over crowd just sort of seems to lurk around by the bar while the 18 and over kids are going crazy up front.

Conversation about: Sacramento Music's Numbers Game

The security is ridiculous because it is a new place and they are under scrutiny, and don't want to get shut down. I could see the acoustics being a problem for an acoustic show. For the really heavy thundering sounds of Mushroomhead and Amon Amarth it's pretty kick-ass.

Conversation about: Monsoon to bring Indian cuisine to 16th and K

"I don’t think there is anything else like this around here.” Yeah right Curry Club is a way better deal for lunch, and I think it tastes better, and the staff is more authentically knowledgeable and friendly. Then there is Bombay, which has been doing great since it opened. They have great lunch deals at the bar, and for couples and families it's a great atmosphere. It costs a little more, but it's sooo good.

Conversation about: Wag the dog: Sacramento style

So what is Sacramento 2020? Get to the damned point. Why is this piece so filled with snarky suspiciousness? Please, just give me the facts, succinctly, and let me draw my own conclusion. I'm just lost in irrelevant anecdotals. Use your blog for that.

This is the most awesomest news I've read in a long time. Three thumbs up. Life is good with Squeeze Inn town.

Conversation about: Tales from the front lines: Working on Christmas

You didn't include the Coroner's office. I worked for the coroner's office on Christmas eve, Christmas day and new year's. That was surreal.

Conversation about: The Porch opens in old Celestin's spot

I better get there soon. I notice this trend recently of places opening with a bang and then gradually fizzle out. They come in with awesome ideas and top quality ingredients and everyone loves it. Then it's like people just want really cheap drinks and mediocre food and the owners decide they have to scale back then after not too long it's just not that interesting. It's like the right culture exists in the area, but people just refuse to spend good money on good food made by good chefs and farmers.

Conversation about: Bill Maher: Stand-up Standup

I wanted to go to this show, but I went to an all-day concert instead. This was a really good knowledgeable and succinct write up. Watching old Carlin bits on Netflix recently, I can definitely see the influence he has on some of my favorite comedians such as Maher. I hadn't made the Twain associations, but I do appreciate them. I love when I read and find a connection that someone else has made and it resounds a connection in my head that had been floating there, and not yet resolved due to lack of attention or time spent on the material

Conversation about: Law enforcement, firefighters box for charity

Have you ever boxed? The strategy involved is a lot like chess. Sometimes you throw a jab just to set up an uppercut combo three or four moves down the line. Is chess fighting? If you use your mind and not your body to fight, then it is OK? Don't be so judgmental, and you sound like a nerd.

Conversation about: May is Bike Month rolls out on Monday

I just hope that we've learned from last year. Drivers and cyclists need to be educated in a way that doesn't increase animosity and segregationist sentiments. Remember, last year 4 cyclists were killed by motorists during Bike Month. If there is going to be an increase in biking, there needs to be an increased awareness of bikers' rights and driver safety.

Conversation about: Pinback breathes old and new life into Harlow's

Doesn't it mean, like, leader, or teacher maybe - like, an authority on the matter. I think the word pundit can mean all of the aforementioned terms. In which case, the word pundit was used correctly. Unless of course, you are more of a word pundit than I.
