AND there is time during a high school day for a student to have band and all their other courses, including 2 years of physical education in 9th and 10th grade, having marching band after school as an extra curricular activity. After school activities "keep them out of trouble." Our JROTC students needed XXXL uniforms. Yes you read that right, TRIPLE XL. ACTIVITY does NOT equal the physical education standards.

Assembly woman Salas' speaking points have all been proven to be false. There have been both phone calls and letters written to her. HOwever she has not publicly retracted the false information she has presented at forums. The supporters of this bill have submitted false data to the state (lied about state mandated fitness testing), skewed data analysis, used those in power to intimidate those who oppose the bill, have REFUSED to attend trainings in our district that would educate them about PE standards and help them write course descriptions that would include these standards, have submitted false letters of support (Ward - SDCOE, NO board approval), have had 25+ years to earn a PE credential in our district that would allow them to give PE credit but they have refused to do so, and have consistently been ignorant in regards to what the standards are. Supporters are arrogant. Salas forgets that it's the hispanic population that develop at a much higher percentage to have poor health (over 50% develop type 2 diabetes and are obese) without conscience. To her, its all about power and saving face. Why else would professionals be told "back off" and "you are not allowed to participate with your peers (teachers and professional organization CAHPERD) on YOUR OWN TIME to educate others about the truth? Wow, way to go supporters - lie and intimidate - forget about the truth.

Please read the PE standards. Activity does not equal the standards like so many think.
