Every Third Sunday of the month, starting November 21st, will be "Pay What You Wish" Sunday, sponsored by Bank of America.
Good question! We've raised $90 million of our $100 million minimum need. Roughly 72 percent of the $90 million is from individuals. You can learn more about the project and ways to get involved at newcrocker.org.
I'm sorry Jonathan! Glad you added your comments. Museum Day is the perfect opportunity to check out a new museum that you may not have been to before.
Thanks for the update! I've been waiting for this place to open!
So interesting! I pass that theatre often and wondered what took place. I know the Pease Conservatory of Music occupies the space above the theatre. Do they do performances in the theatre as well?
Good question, Colleen! The Crocker-Kingsley juror changes each time the exhibition is offered, generally every two years. The juror is chosen by a curator from the Crocker and the exhibition chair and president of the Kingsley Art Club, which helps us put on the exhibition. Together they draw up a list of possible names, contact them to see if they are interested and available, and then the team votes on who would be the best fit. The jurors have all been nationally or internationally known and mostly California or West Coast-connected. Past jurors have included Museum directors, curators and college professors. Many are practicing contemporary artists, and all have a wide background in more than just their specialty. By the way, The Art of Warner Bros. Cartoons closes this Sunday, so you bet hurry in!
Sure, David! I work at the Crocker Art Museum and currently live in Midtown. I grew up in Sacramento, went away for a few years before moving back a little over two years ago. I'm so excited to be back, especially at a time of such transformation in the city. It's espeically great to be a part of the Crocker during this historic expansion.

Hi DKS, thanks for asking! The baseball player sculptures by Lisa Reinertson were taken down a few years ago because they needed some conservation work, but they are now installed in front of the West Sacramento City Hall. The sculptures were created for outdoor display, so we don't plan on displaying them inside the Museum in the future. You can see another work by the artist on the first floor of the Museum. It's a clay sculpture called "Wolf Rider, Ophelia's Return."
