I realized it was a joke when you wrote "wildly successful".
Oh man, that happens to me all the time.
"Beer with Ballet", what a novel idea. I can't wait for "Meth and Mozart"!
Maybe the Sacramento Press should spearhead a community project to help count the trees in Sacramento. You guys could setup a Google Map and have citizens from each block report the number of trees on their block.
Is it me, or does SunnySideUp look like Brad Pitt? Cool article Jeremy.
I like the way you think. However, I disagree that the human spirit must dwell outside the realm of pure reason. The rules of logic can exist there – its the rules of 4 dimensional SPACE-TIME which do not. The body of our "a priori" knowledge is just a trivial subset of the "greater intelligence" which the average being can only grab glimpses of. I like your notion of "intonation" – it is a glimpse. Tell me more...
Yeah, you get a bag credit also for bringing in your own bag.
Wow, I'm glad nobody died from this incident. Jim, are there any permanent side effects from the amount of exposure this family endured?
Eat them. Or better yet, build a hen house and eat their eggs.
Good article and beautiful photograph on the front page.
Mr. O’Brien should just smoke pot. The 'Grays' aren't interested in 'specimens' that have been tainted by toxins. Or maybe the problem is that Mr O'Brien (or O'Brian) actually smokes too much pot? I lived in Santa Cruz. There are worse things than UFOs there. The buzzing and paralysis are stalled astral projection attempts. He needs to do Chi Gong and meditation to raise his vibrations higher than the level the extra-terrestrials are on – then – he would see something truly extra-ordinary...
Well, here is a chance for Kevin Johnson to prove himself as a politician. Is he going to shine Colbert's national spotlight on friends that he owes favors to or is he going to show Colbert real Sacramento community. Geoff, you should make an article asking for suggestions for what KJ and SC should do while in Sacramento.
Unless its your face that is mostly skating the pool...
Wow, I never thought about it like that, but that seems to make sense to me. Its all just semantics - pure and simple. I was raised Catholic, and we viewed Marriage as a sacred Sacrament (redundant?). In fact, we were told that if you were not Catholic and were not married by a Catholic priest in a Catholic church, then you did not truly participate in the "Sacrament of Marriage". Now we always had to reconcile the fact that the State issued marriage licenses and that there were millions of people running around claiming to be married. Sure, they are married, but not in the eyes of God. So, if we change the name of State recognized marriage to "civil union", then everybody has the same status under the law. It would then be up to the individual religions to decide whether same sex marriages were allowed under their tenants. I think that would be more egalitarian. Thanks Joel for pointing that idea out and thanks Quothia for posting a good article to spawn such a discussion.
Thanks, Jon. That is useful information.
You know, it would be cool to have a list of ALL the comments I have left so it's easier to follow up on ones where people respond to me. The list on the profile page only shows my last 5 comments. What if people respond to my comments that I posted two weeks ago? I am spending a lot of time trying to track down my OWN comments to see how they create conversations.
I think its funny how you feel obligated to give the bicyclists praise for using a non "fossil fuel" based mode of transportation. The righteousness that many bicyclists exude is so powerful, that we must first "acknowledge" their "contribution" to the environment before we can even say anything remotely negative about them. I, too, have almost been "run over" by a bike on the sidewalk in Midtown. I, too, have gotten glaring looks for being in their way. I ride around town occasionally and I always use the bike lanes. Most of the streets in Midtown are safe and don't have many cars on them. The way I see it, bicycles should not be on the sidewalk ridden on the sidewalk.
Conversation about: Sacramento Press to produce first print edition
Well, it was subtle up until that point. I know that there had been discussions about releasing a print version before the Sac Press launched, so I wasn't surprised by the headline. I figured that with the Bee on the verge of collapsing, maybe the Sac Press was making a land grab for its readers. For a brief moment, synapses fired, worlds collided, and there existed, in my mind's eye, a pristine copy of the first edition of Sacramento Press "Print Edition". But then I read "wildly successful" and I realized it was an April Fool's joke. Probably better that way...
